I have no memory of showing any interest in art until 7th grade -- Miss Hatcher's class. My first attempts were only crude watercolors but it awakened something in me. I now have an insomniac's energy late into the night, when I do most of my painting.

In the early 90s, I discovered I could create art on the computer and I began churning out piece after piece, learning my art and honing the techniques I use to create it. Over time, I began to move away from the figurative to the abstract, though my present work often retains traces of figures, if you squint long enough.

The world is full of possibilities. I find that I am drawn to photograph everything from the banalities of life to architectural wonders that dot the skyline.

My artwork is more adventurous. Whether I start from a blank canvas or use a photograph as inspiration, it takes me places, creatively, that I never see beforehand and often am surprised when I arrive.

Where my art will take me — and that is how I see it, not the other way around — I haven't any preconception, but I want to create pieces that fire the viewer's imagination. My art changes when it feels right. A piece is finished when it says it is. I'm just there to acknowledge it.
